    Pierce Nelles

    Head Guide

Growing up with a Class 1 stream in his front yard, Pierce is no stranger to trout. Throughout his years of fly fishing, he's spent countless hours fishing the Driftless region, and has been fortunate enough to spend time on the water in Colorado, Iowa, Michigan as well as New Zealand and Australia!

With a relentless passion for the great outdoors--specifically fly fishing for trout--his motivation to educate and encourage anglers on the sport of fly fishing truly comes from the heart. This passion reached a professional level when he began working in fly fishing retail in 2020 before becoming a professional casting instructor.

Now he wants to use his knowledge of the region and sport to share it with as many people as possible, in hopes of leaving clients more informed, more inspired, and more in-love with fly fishing!

    GEAR

You--the client--are responsible for providing your own waders (if you choose to do so) as well as a fishing license and Inland Waters Trout Stamp. We encourage all clients to bring a hat, polarized sunglasses, lotion sunscreen, rain jacket, and beverages if they would like something other than water.

Other than that, we've got you covered! We want you to be able to sit back and enjoy your day without stressing about gear. All rods, flies, line, leader/tippet, and gear required for a day in the Driftless is supplied by GCFF.

  • Testimonials

"We had a great day! For anyone looking to try this awesome outdoor experience for the first time or to increase your skills, Pierce is your guy! It was one of the best experiences of our summer!"

    -Sam from Milton, WI

"Having fly fished in larger rivers, drift boats, and lakes a majority of my life - this was a completely different experience. Pierce was able to provide tips and pointers while fishing that helped me adjust to the more technical stream fishing. By the end of the day I was roll casting like a pro and slaying the trout!"

    -Nick from Fort Collins, CO
